TV crew fired after trespassing on Pitt's property

Taking the quest for an entertainment story to the extremes has proved costly for two journalists after they trespassed on Brad Pitt's Hollywood property.

A cameraman and producer working for the E! Network have been fired for reportedly unchaining a gate to the property and proceeding to walk around the grounds.

They fled the scene when workman at the home questioned their intentions and the television network has now confirmed that the two employees are no longer with the company, saying it is not part of their conduct to intrude on private property.

"E! Networks is investigating allegations that a producer and cameraman who were filming locations for a programme about Brad Pitt went onto property last week that is reportedly owned by Mr Pitt," a statement said.

"E! Networks did not instruct or authorise anyone working on its programme to improperly intrude onto private property.

"The network in no way condones or encourages such behavior and would like to offer its most sincere apologies to Mr. Pitt and his family."

Pitt, his partner Angelina Jolie and their three children are currently in India. The couple is working together on the film A Mighty Heart.

They have had run-ins with the press while abroad, including one of their security men making a death threat to a photographer.
